Mentalix Achieves Authorization for Electronic Fingerprint Submissions to OPM

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) accepts electronic fingerprint submissions from Mentalix Fed Submit Live Scan systems. Many government agencies send applicant background checks to OPM, and utilizing live scan technology significantly speeds up the process. Federal, state and local agencies can purchase applicant live scan systems via Mentalix’s GSA contract GS-07F-0014V.

Mentalix Wins TXMAS Contract Award

Texas municipal, county and state law enforcement agencies can now purchase Mentalix ten-print and palm print live scan systems via TXMAS. Our Fed Submit (TX) products, tailored specifically for electronic submissions to Texas DPS, are available on our new TXMAS contract TXMAS-10-84020. Look for our TXMAS catalog soon.

Fed Submit Live Scan Now Supports Class C Submissions in Texas

Texas DPS is now accepting the submission of Class C Misdemeanor offenses from Texas law enforcement agencies. The latest update of Fed Submit (TX) Live Scan systems enables this capability. Mentalix's Texas customers can begin submitting Class C arrests, so that those fingerprint records are added to the state AFIS database for current and future comparisons. The submitted Class C offenses will be retained in the Texas Computerized Criminal History database. Alabama DPS Awards $1 Million Card Conversion Contract to Mentalix

Mentalix has won a contract to convert 1.2 million fingerprint cards to NIST format for the Alabama Department of Public Safety. This contract is potentially worth up to $1 million. Mentalix will conduct scanning, data-entry and quality control operations in a secure facility and will supply the resulting NIST files to Alabama DPS. The NIST files will be added to Alabama’s AFIS database for future fingerprint comparisons.

J2K API Toolkit Is Certified

Mentalix now offers the J2K API Toolkit, for developers who want to add JPEG 2000 compression/decompression functionality to their fingerprint solutions. The Toolkit also supports multiple layers to enable transcoding 1000 ppi JPEG 2000 data to 500 ppi WSQ data with minimal data loss. Certification testing required by the NIST FP JPEG 2000 profile has been successfully completed for all supported platforms.

New Product: FS Archive

Mentalix's new FS Archive product enables the creation of an electronic, easily accessible fingerprint archive. Now, instead of retrieving old cards from off-site storage or filing cabinets, you can quickly view or print past fingerprint records with a simple computerized lookup. The FS Archive database can be created from a variety of sources, including live scan systems, card scan systems, or electronic files. FS IDMS - Mobile Identity Management

Mentalix is pleased to announce FS IDMS, a mobile identity management package for Texas law enforcement. FS IDMS allows the creation of a local fingerprint database, to be used for identity verification searches from mobile, in-car FS Remote ID units. The FS IDMS database will integrate with any brand of live scanner currently in use at your jail; however, a live scanner is not required.

FS Remote ID for Mobile ID Checks

Mentalix previewed its latest product, FS Remote ID, at a meeting with approximately 20 Denton County emergency response agencies. FS Remote ID facilitates mobile ID checks from police cars. Searches are based on two-finger captures with a single-finger device. FS Remote ID is sold as part of the FS IDMS package.

ABA Electronic Responses Now Available

The ABA (American Bankers Association) now makes electronic responses available directly to the submitting bank or credit union via a Web portal, in response to electronic applicant fingerprint submissions.

We have heard from some of our banking and credit union customers that they typically receive the ABA replies within 10 minutes or less.

To take advantage of this service, Fed Submit (Civil) customers that send applicant background checks to the ABA may need to reconfigure or upgrade their Mentalix software and will also need to request a packet from the ABA. Contact Mentalix technical support at hotline@mentalix.com for details.

Texas Grant Opportunities

The Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts’ Web site includes a list of grant funding opportunities for Texas law enforcement agencies. Some of the available grants could possibly be used to fund purchase of Fed Submit Palm Scan or Ten-Print Scan systems. Some Byrne grant applications are due as soon as April 9th, so interested agencies will need to apply right away.

Updated Fingerprint Card Processing Software

Mentalix is pleased to announce the release of Fed Submit Card Processing 2.2, designed for large-volume fingerprint or palm print card scanning projects. This latest version includes several new features as well as multiple efficiency improvements. Mentalix Relocates Corporate Offices

As of February 1, Mentalix has relocated its headquarters! We are just 1/2 block away from our old location, but we took advantage of the weakness in the economy as an opportunity to upgrade our space. Along with additional amenities to make our employees more comfortable, we have also invested in some significant corporate improvements that include a new phone system and higher bandwidth offsite hosting of our website.
